Last week I attended the Texas Library Association's annual conference and boy, am I pumped! It doesn't take much to get me brainstorming and excited about books and library ideas so last week sent me over the edge! I met wonderful authors, illustrators, poets, and storytellers. I was inspired by people's efforts to help rebuild and replenish libraries along our coast. I was motivated to go home and write, write, write as I listened to authors share their writing successes and trials. I am excited about new books that have come out recently and that will be released this coming summer and fall! My really exciting news is that I won a Kindle!! Can you believe it?! I put my name into a drawing with a company called "The Library Store" and I actually won! I have not been interested in owning an eReader because I just really love books. I love the way they feel in my hands, the way the pages smell, the way the pictures make the words even better. However, as a librarian, it's definitely time to explore the eReader option. My kids LOVE it!
I am in between books right now. My recent choices have not quite been what I am in the mood for. I think I'll check my bookshelf in Destiny Quest to find some that kids have recommended to me.
Stay tuned for pictures of the kids that read 5 or more Bluebonnet Books this year. Plus... our only student to read all 20!
